Master Program
Educational objective
The educational objective of the Master of Geological Engineering program is to produce graduates who can work in the fields of research and education, oil and gas and coal industries, mineral industries, construction services and regional development, as well as volcanology and geothermal fields.
These objectives strongly support the national competences framework for undergraduate education and are consistent with the mission of the institution. Their consistency with ITB and FEST missions is realized through producing graduates that has integrated knowledge and skills as well as soft skills to be a professional and ability to develop themselves with good ethics. The program objectives accommodate the pressure of national demands (industry, society, and profession) and rapid change in survey and mapping methodology and technology. The objectives are related to Vision and Mission of ITB, ITB Goals, and Vision and Mission of FEST.
Every graduate of the Master of Geological Engineering program at ITB is expected to achieve the following:
- Able to develop knowledge, technology, and/or art in the scientific field or professional practice through research, to produce innovative and tested work.
- Able to solve problems of science, technology and/or art in their scientific field through an inter or multidisciplinary approach.
- Able to manage research and development that is beneficial to society and science, and able to gain national and international recognition.
Intended Learning Outcome
Every graduate of the Master of Geological Engineering program at ITB is expected to achieve the following:
- Able to identify problems and find solutions through structured research.
- Able to analyze and synthesize, as well as use evaluation skills to draw conclusions from research activities, in addition to a depth of master of knowledge.
- Able to apply and integrate geological disciplines for interests: science development, exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources, minerals and coal, volcanology and geothermal, as well as environmentally sound engineering geology and geological disaster mitigation both individually and in collaboration with other parties.
The Master Study Program in Geological Engineering is under the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technologies (FEST), which oriented towards academic education with the competence to create and renew/originality in research/research-based science, knowledge, and technology. The research referred to follows 5 tracks, namely:
Geoscience
Petroleum Geology
Engineering Geology
Economic Geology
Volcanology and Geothermal
