A geosite is a place that has important traces of the history of the earth, usually in the form of rock and sand which can explain the development of the earth (geology), nature, living things, and culture from ancient times to the present.

Ijen Geopark is unique because there is a fossilized volcano side by side with an active volcano. Apart from that, there is also the only blue fire in the world.

This time, in order to support the growing Ijen Geopark, a team from the Geological Engineering Study Program – ITB conducted Community Service in Banyuwangi Based on Geotourism Research (Ijen Geopark)

This assistance function is also to understand residents in the Ijen Geopark area about the geological wealth they have and how to manage it properly. This includes educating about various potential disasters, such as tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

The results of the assistance and research conducted are not only popular. But later there will be scientific and semi-popular results in the form of a book that is easily understood by the public about the Ijen geopark. In the future there will be a mini museum established for geological research of the Ijen Geopark and scientific publications.
